The test lasts approxiametly 8 minutes with the patient lying down and then finshing by standing up, while being monitored by the NerveExpress computer system.

Clinical Science
NerveExpress is a simple, non-invasive, fully automated computer-based system designed for quantitative assessment of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis. It is the first and only such system available today. It is also the first and only ANS assessment system based on proprietary Artificial Intelligence technology.

The algorithms used by NervExpress have been developed and tested for over twenty years in studies involving more than twenty five thousand patients. The NervExpress system objectively and reproducibly evaluates the state of ANS during rest as well as during the Orthostatic test and the Valsalva Maneuver combined with deep breathing.

The system recognizes 74 states of ANS, which reflect different variations in the relationship between Sympathetic and Parasympathetic activities. This is illustrated in a Cartesian system of coordinates with Parasympathetic Horizontal or X-axis and Sympathetic Vertical or Y-axis. Their point of intersection is the point of Autonomic Balance.

Monitor Test enables ANS assessment (separately of Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Tone) in a "real-time" mode which means that data is analyzed as it is put in. It can be used during different kinds of long-term therapy, long-term tests or any kind of experiments aimed at therapeutic strategy optimization. Some of the most important applications are intensive-care and anesthesia monitoring.
